Governor's Executive Orders
Every day in California, patient care is compromised because vital health information is locked in dozens of computer systems that can't talk to each other or in stacks of paper files. CalRHIO and its stakeholders have been working for the past two years to change that. The Governor's Executive Orders to promote the advancement of HIE in California are a vital step toward realizing the benefits of improved safety, quality, and efficiency that HIE can deliver. With the strong foundation CalRHIO has already established and the commitment of the state to develop a comprehensive state policy agenda for HIT and HIE, progress can be made rapidly. CalRHIO supports and endorses the seven action items outlined in the Governor's Executive Order S-12-06 (July 25, 2006). A letter to the Governor provides an overview of the areas CalRHIO has addressed that will be helpful to the state in advancing HIT and HIE. The Governor's Executive Order S-06-07 , issued March 14, 2007, continues his efforts to make health care more accessible and affordable for all Californians by moving forward California’s efforts to adopt HIT and HIE.
